 Standing under the Chuppah.  Breaking the glass.  Circle Dancing.  All of these are traditions that enliven a Jewish wedding and through this exhibit the Jewish Museum Milwaukee will explore and celebrate these special customs.  Jewish weddings are full of rituals and customs symbolizing the beauty and commitment of the relationship between a husband and wife as well as their obligation to the Jewish people.  Many of the laws and vibrant\, joyful customs relating to the wedding ceremony and the union of the bride (Kallah) and groom (Choson) date back centuries.  Many of these traditions are still upheld today however\, younger generations have also incorporated new customs reflective of their contemporary lives. After the sacred and symbolic acts are planned and realized for Jewish weddings\, the joining together is complete and it is a time to celebrate and rejoice with family and friends\n

 Utilizing artifacts from the collection of the Jewish Museum Milwaukee\, items borrowed from the community\, private collections\, and educational information and materials\, the Museum will explore the traditions and objects unique to the Jewish wedding ceremony and experience.\n
