Director: Bonnie Shafrin
Library/Media Center Coordinator: Laurie Herman
The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center is dedicated to Holocaust education and remembrance. Programs that include a Speaker’s Bureau, school outreach programs, educational consultation, an annual film series, courses and community programs not only preserve the history and memory of the Holocaust but guide future generations to consider ethical behavior in order to fight racism and bigotry. The Coalition’s Library/Media Center houses the Center’s extensive collection of books, videos, DVDs, study guides and lesson plans for teaching about the Holocaust. Holocaust Material Trunks are available for middle school and high school classrooms and may be borrowed for 3-4 weeks. The Ateret Cohn Holocaust Educators Symposium, a two-day conference on teaching the Holocaust, will be held in March 2008. Trips to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., are conducted in collaboration with the Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations.
The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center is a department of the Coalition for Jewish Learning, the education program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
